In today's christian devotion we find that the Psalmist here is giving thanks to God and is remembering how God had saved them from their oppression and challenges. In Psalm 124:8 we find that the Psalmist here is expressing His confidence in God's name. We all face trial and difficult circumstances in life and no one is immune from them but the truth is we don't have to face them by ourselves but we can face them with God by our side. Too often in life we want to face our challenges and difficult circumstances by ourselves and alone thinking that we can handle it. Sometimes those challenges and difficulties it is beyond our abilities and we need God to intervene for us. It is God's will to help His children and those who seek after him. In today's Tamil Christian Devotion we find that the Psalmist here is expressing his confidence in God to protect him. We find in the bible that it is God's will to protect his children all the time. As we trust in God to protect us, He will watch over our life. Harm can come to us in many ways and forms either by our own mistakes, wrong decisions, wrong friendships, being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Also not forgetting that the devil  also can bring harm on our path because Jesus says in John 10:10 the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. So we need to be wise with how we live our life and at the same time same we need God's protection upon our life. As a human being we are very much limited meaning to say we cannot always anticipate how harm will come to us all the time but rather we need to ask God's protection daily upon our lives, our family and friends. In today's christian devotion we find that David is saying that how those who know God's name will trust in Him and that God never forsakes those who trust in him. -To know God's name is to know God because each of His names in the bible reveal God's character and attribute. So if a person studies each name of God in the bible that will help them to understand how faithful God is all the time. David also share his experience and his understanding in this verse in the sense that God never has forsaken anyone who seeks after Him. Here we find that the Psalmist is making a contrast of how some people trust their chariots and horses while God's children trust in the name of the Lord our God. Ancient Egypt and ancient Syria were known for their war machines like chariots and horses. But here the Psalmist is declaring that their confidence is place in the name of the Lord, God. God is known by many names in the bible and each name describes God's attributes and his character. Perhaps the well known name for God and the name that he chose to introduce Himself to Moses was I am that I am. They had no where else to place their trust except God alone and they knew that if they were to place their trust in God alone, He will save them from their enemies. Here we find that David is praying to God and asking Him to show His ways to him. It is important in our lives that we ask God to show us His ways to us. As we face  different circumstances and situations,it is really important to do things according to God's way. God's way is the best, and it is to do the things in love,  compassion and grace. Secondly we must ask God to teach us his path for our live, meaning his direction for our live. We all might be journeying in different directions in terms of work, finance, health and relationship and it is important  to understand that the direction that I am heading is set by God or that God wants me to travel in that direction. Let's not be like Jonah but rather lets be like Jesus as he said in the garden of Gethsemane "not my will but yours be done."
